What’s the backstory on The Dunstan Group?
My dream of owning a business started early in my childhood. I was 10-12 years old and began mowing yards in my neighborhood. My father always gave me what I needed, however not everything I wanted. I started in the ad specialty industry in 2000 as my first job outside of college with the family business. My knowledge of the industry and learning the management side of the business provided me the tools to eventually establish The Dunstan Group in May of 2008.
What do you have a knack for?
Building relationships. I enjoy learning what people do day in and day out and how we can help. People trust that we’ll do a great job for them, make their lives easier, and navigate through the thousands of options available to them.
What do clients say about you?
We do what we say we’re going to do, we do it right, and if mistakes happen, we stand behind it and make it right – every single time.
What excites you most about The Dunstan Group?
Being a part of a vibrant economy here in Charlotte. It’s exciting to learn about other’s businesses, watch them grow and prosper, and know we had a hand in getting them there through the use of our products and creative expertise. There are so many applications for branded merchandise – uniforming for employees, holiday gifts, promotional giveaways, and so on. Being able to work with so many recognizable brands such as the Carolina Panthers, Snyders-Lance, Lowe’s Home Improvement, Cigna Healthcare, or even the small bachelorette party, event or school t-shirt order.
What are you most passionate about professionally?
Growing The Dunstan Group in a slow controlled fashion through providing great products and service to our clients while also creating a fun environment for employees.
Where can we find you when you’re not working?
Outside, mountain biking, hunting, spending time with loved ones. Ideally, I’m involved in a combo of these!
What nonprofits, volunteer or community organizations do you love?
Charlotte has a lot of people with a lot of heart. We love working with 24 Hours of Booty, they’re doing big things to help the cancer community. Succession Charlotte, creating leaders in the Charlotte Community and also raising money for Junior Achievement. Centerspoke Charlotte, a networking group that really put me in touch with great business resources early on when I started The Dunstan Group.
